The Hub+ has a 24K-gold solution to all your USB-C problems

When Apple announced that its new MacBook would have a USB-C port, many people started wondering how they would connect all of their old devices. Now, one new port is eliminating this concern for Apple enthusiasts — the Hub+ for USB-C from No NDA. Additionally, it comes in a flashy new gold design that’s sure to appeal to those who want a little more glam in their lives.

The Hub+ has all of the ports a new MacBook user will need – two USB-C ports, one SDXC card reader, one display port, and three USB-A charging ports. Additionally, it has a built-in lithium ion battery that can charge any phone on a whim.

The device itself is constructed out of aluminum alloy, making it lightweight and durable. It’s 4.8 inches long and 1.5 inches wide, meaning you can easily slip it into your pocket and take it anywhere with you.

“The Hub+ is built with the best materials and an incredibly smart and beautiful design to give you the best experience you could ever get with your new Apple MacBook,” said chief designer of Hub+ Jan Schmitt on the No NDA website.

However, you might want to be a little more careful with it if you’re going to make the investment. With a pledge of $3,999 on the device’s Kickstarter page, you’ll receive a 24K gold-plated Hub+ and one gold-plated bonus adapter, laser-etched with your name and a personalized message.

Of course, you don’t have to go with the pricier option — the Hub+ will be available in a gold hue (though not 24K) and space grey once the Kickstarter fundraiser hits its stretch goal of $250,000.

The product itself will begin shipping out to early-bird customers in late June 2015. A pledge of $79 or more will get you the basic edition of the Hub+ and a bonus adapter, and it ships to anywhere in the world.

Update your PC: Intel has fixed Alder Lake’s biggest gaming problem
Intel Core i9-12900K between fingers.

Intel and digital rights management (DRM) service Denuvo have fixed one of the largest issues plaguing the 12th-gen Alder Lake platform. At launch, Intel revealed over 90 games that wouldn't work with its most recent processors. A month after launch, the list has shrunk to only three.

A recent Windows Update solved the issue for the majority of titles. We checked the list about a week ago, and it was still full. Now, there are only three titles that have issues on Windows 11 and Windows 10 -- Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Fernbus Simulator, and Madden NFL 22. To apply the fix, download and install the most recent Windows Update.

Apple didn’t build USB-C into the iPhone, so this guy did instead
apple iphone usb c mod charging

Thw new iPhone 13 is here, and Apple fans are still stuck with the old Lightning port (at least for now). Apple's stubbornness to switch has led to much digital ink being spilled, but an engineering student has chosen to actually do something about it. With a lot of determination, he replaced the iPhone X's Lightning connector with a USB-C one -- and it apparently works.

Well, it's a bit more complicated to swap out ports than it would be on say a Fairphone, but it's not impossible either. The student, Kenny Pillonel, says that he reverse-engineered Apple's C94 connector to build a physical connector board (PCB) that supported USB-C. After that, he removed the Lightning connector from the iPhone X in question and replaced it with a USB-C female port. After that, the iPhone X was apparently able to be charged and transfer data with a USB-C port, just like any Android phone you can find on the market today.
