Below delayed until 2016

Below, the upcoming “rogue-like-like” from Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP c0-developer Capybara games, has been officially pushed back until 2016. The game was expected to launch by the end of 2015, but as the year winds down without an announcement from the developer, it has seemed increasingly unlikely that the studio would release the game in their targeted window.

Capy Games co-founder Nathan Vella confirmed what fans might have assumed to Game Informer Wednesday.

Below is indeed coming in 2016,” Vella said. “Past that I can’t share much, yet. We’ll certainly have a lot more content to show and news to share in the new year.”

Obviously that’s not a lot of information. Without any insight into the nature of the delay, it will be difficult to say whether fans will have to wait weeks, months or until holiday 2016 to play Below.

Below is a top-down action-adventure game with roguelike “permadeath,” which, when combined when with the game’s reportedly high level of difficulty, should lead to some extremely intense combat. Creative director Kris Piotrowski named The Legend of Zelda, Spelunky and Dark Souls among the team’s chief influences in a 2014 interview with Polygon. The game also features a minimalist pixel-art aesthetic reminiscent of Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, as well as music from that game’s composer, Jim Guthrie.

Announced as a console-exclusive before the Xbox One launched, the Microsoft-supported indie maintained a high profile in 2014, garnering nominations for best in show award nominations from many outlets at E3, including the conglomerated Game Critics’ awards, and announcing the game’s 2015 release target at Gamescom. Though several outlets published Below‘s opening minutes earlier this year, the game has largely kept out of sight in 2015.

Earlier this month, Capy Games announced they’re also developing Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked, an expansion for Klei Entertainment’s rogue-like. The expansion is currently available on Steam Early Access.

Stardew Valley 1.6 has finally arrived on consoles and mobile
Special Orders board in Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley console and mobile players will want to start a new farm soon. The long-awaited 1.6 update is finally available for all platforms on Monday, bringing with it a new farm type, more dialogue with NPCs, new events, and too many other things to count.

The 1.6 update launched for PC players on March 19, so console and mobile players have been waiting almost eight months for the release. In July, developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that it was taking longer than expected. The following month, he wrote in another post that the ports have been the "primary focus" for the team. He had even stopped working on the Stardew follow-up Haunted Chocolatier to get the console and mobile updates finished.

Xbox Game Pass is getting tons of new games following Black Ops 6 success
A cockpit view in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

We know a lot of you are playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Xbox right now, but the company just announced some games coming to Xbox Game Pass -- specifically the Game Pass Standard tier -- in the first half of November.

The biggest game coming to the service (and we mean that literally) is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Xbox and developers Asobo Studio previously reported that it will have a smaller install size than its predecessor -- 127GB versus 157GB -- but it'll also require 64GB of RAM. All of this is to help stream immense detail to the player as they fly around the world. Asobo says helped it to increase "the detail of its virtual environment by a factor of 4,000." Alongside the hyperrealistic graphics is a new career mode where you go through training and missions to become a pilot and a challenge mode where you compete against other pilots. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is coming to Game Pass at launch on November 19.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was a monumental addition to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate last week, so no week of additions to the service will live up to that for a while. Still, that didn't stop some more games from trickling onto Microsoft's subscription service in the wake of the latest Call of Duty. In fact, the games that came to the service were quite good. If you're wondering what you should be checking out next as a Game Pass subscriber after you're done with Black Ops 6, consider trying one of these games.
Ashen
ASHEN | Gamescom 2018 Gameplay

In July, A44 released Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, and it was part of Xbox Game Pass from day one. Now, the studio has brought its previous Soulslike to the subscription service. Originally released in 2018, Ashen stood out from the crowd at the time thanks to its distinct, grayish cel-shaded look and open-world design years before Elden Ring came out. Ashen still stands as one of the best indie Soulslikes ever released, so those who have never played it before should give it a shot now that it's on Xbox Game Pass. It'll also make for an enjoyable Game Pass Soulslike double-feature with Flintlock.
