Hideo Kojima’s mysterious new project features Elle Fanning

Hideo Kojima appears to be working with actress Elle Fanning as part of his next project. The gaming icon shared a teaser image for what fans assume is his next game that features the actress.

Kojima began dropping a few hints about his next project starting at the Tokyo Game Show last month, with a poster of a girl that said, “Who am I?” During PAX Australia this weekend, Kojima finally revealed the “who” and it turns out that it’s Fanning. The actress has starred in the Maleficent films and the Hulu series The Great.

Next up, it seems like Kojima will reveal where his next project takes place, as he unveiled a poster that says, “Where am I?” It’s most likely that he’ll announce the setting of his game at an upcoming show, such as The Game Awards 2022 on December 9. It also looks like after the “where” reveal, Kojima has one detail to share.

Kojima Productions is currently working on several projects. Kojima confirmed earlier this year that he’s collaborating with Microsoft and Xbox on a game that will leverage cloud technology. Actor Norman Reedus has also seemingly confirmed that a sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding is in production, but so far there hasn’t been any official announcement.

There are two rumored code names floating around: Overdose and Ocean. The former is possibly the cod ename for Kojima’s Xbox project and is seemingly a horror game. The latter seemingly refers to Death Stranding 2, which is reportedly in development under Sony.

A single-player-focused follow-up to Death Stranding was reportedly in development at Google, but was canceled.

Tribeca Festival 2023 will feature seven games and a Hideo Kojima documentary
Hideo Kojima in an office during the Xbox Bethesda Showcase 2022.

This year's Tribeca Festival will once again feature video games, as well as the debut of Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds, a documentary about the famed game developer, and a Q&A with Kojima himself. That's happening alongside the festival's official selection of seven games, which includes titles like Goodbye Volcano High and Stray Gods.
At 5 p.m. ET on June 17 at Spring Studios, Tribeca Games will hold a screening for Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds, which is a documentary by Glen Milner and Ben Hilton that delves into Kojima's creative process and tells the story of Kojima Productions. This is its world premiere, and it will be followed by a Q&A where attendees can Kojima whatever they want about the documentary and his experience as a game developer.
Since 2021, Tribeca Games has been a wider part of the Tribeca Festival celebration, typically highlighting narrative-focused games that are doing new and exciting things, such as American Arcadia, As Dusk Falls, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits. This year's lineup features seven games, with the headliner being The Expanse: A Telltale Series, the first new episodic adventure game from the revitalized Telltale.

Tribeca is really leaning into featuring this game as well, as it is hosting a panel called Exploring Deep Space: How Telltale and Deck Nine created Expanse Stories in an Interactive Medium, where its developers will discuss the challenges in creating a narrative-focused video game prequel to the popular TV show. Other game selections will be featured in the Tribeca Games Spotlight and have playable demos at Tribeca's Games & Immersive Experience. Tribeca Games 2023's selections also include the following:

Hideo Kojima NFT scare ends with physical collectible confirmation
Kojima's mascot, Luden's helmet close up.

With plenty of gaming companies going into the NFT market, fans are constantly on high alert to see which developer will embrace the controversial technology next. Yesterday, rumors that Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima was jumping into the non-fungible world blew up thanks to a tease from an NFT adjacent company, Anicorn. Turns out, it was all just for a physical collectible from Kojima Productions and Anicorn.

The original announcement led to a lot of concern among Hideo Kojima's fanbase. Anicorn makes physical products like watches but also creates NFTs. Because the first tweet teasing the collaboration was vague, replies to it were full of prayers that the project wouldn't be an NFT announcement or anything related to the metaverse.
