Taking place in a bombed-out theme park dating back to the pre-war era, Fallout 4‘s Nuka-World is filled with rides, attractions, and skill games themed around the fictional in-game soft drink Nuka-Cola. Dangerous creatures now lurk among the park’s ruins, however, and players must tread carefully as they explore Fallout 4‘s final expansion.
Promising players a collection of new quests, weapons, factions, and creatures, Nuka-World splits its gameplay across several distinct zones, including Safari Adventure, the World of Refreshment, Dry Rock Gulch, Kiddie Kingdom, Galactic Zone, and Nuka-Town. While many attractions operate as originally intended, some areas have been overrun with mutants and raiders, and players are in charge of restoring the park to its former glory.
Upon a first visit, players can interact with classic carnival games like Skeeball, Whack-A-Mole, and shooting galleries, each of which are uniquely designed to suit the Fallout universe. Thrill seekers can also ride roller coasters and area-bridging trams as they explore the park’s densely packed map.
After completing Nuka-World’s quest and ridding the area of threats, players can use the park grounds as a settlement for fellow wasteland survivors. The expansion includes several new interactive items and aesthetic elements that can be placed around the park to spruce up the surroundings, while resident survivors can be directed to fortify its defenses.
Nuka-World wraps up Bethesda’s DLC plans for Fallout 4, following up on the game’s previous story-themed add-on Far Harbor. Other expansions released in the months after Fallout 4‘s initial launch focused on specific in-game mechanics, giving players a greater number of options with regard to crafting, decorations, and the capture and taming of wild animals.
Nuka-World is the final expansion covered by Fallout 4‘s digital Season Pass, and players can download the finished product on August 30 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PCs. Nuka-World is also available as a stand-alone download priced at $20.
