You can now see how many times you failed at Connections

The New York Times is known primarily for Wordle and its crossword, but that doesn’t mean its other games won’t get some love. Case in point: Connections, the word game that tasks players with recognizing patterns among a group of 16 words or phrases. It’s known for being fun but sometimes obscenely difficult, and thanks to a new stats feature, you can now see how many times you’ve failed.

The newspaper announced Tuesday that Connections players will now be able to see their stats in the app, “including the number of puzzles completed, the number of ‘perfect’ puzzles, win rate, streaks and more.” It’s available on iOS, Android, the New York Times news app, and in the browser.

Players can check these out by clicking on the stats icon in the toolbar (it looks like a bar graph). This is similar to how it looks in other NYT Games apps; Wordle and Spelling Bee have similar features. You can also see your stats when you finish a game.

The New York Times has been putting a lot of work into its Games app, adding more games like Strands, along with more community features. Wordle got a bunch of updates in May, with the addition of the archives. It also launched WordleBot in 2022, a bot that will analyze your Wordle games and attempt to give you hints on how to improve. The app also got a redesign in March.

“These new features are all about deepening the delight of the game, keeping the challenge fresh, and fostering long-term engagement,” head of games Jonathan Knight said in a press release about Connections.

You can now play this underrated Marvel RPG for free thanks to Epic Games Store

If you missed out on Marvel's Midnight Suns, the 2022 turn-based RPG from XCOM developer Firaxis Games -- and based on the poor sales numbers, a lot of you did -- you can now play it for free thanks to the Epic Games Store.

The storefront has a new free game for users to claim every week, and this time it's Marvel's Midnight Suns. However, you only have until June 13 to claim the game for free. The deal only applies to the base game, although the two editions with extras are also on sale. The digital+ version comes with 11 premium skins and is on sale for $20 (down from the $80 full price). If you want access to all the post-launch characters -- Deadpool, Venom, Morbius, and Storm -- along with those premium skins, you can purchase the legendary edition for $25 (down from $100).

The rules to Connections are simple: you have a grid of 16 words that you need to organize into four groups based on a shared connection. For example, four of the 16 words may all be fruit and thus make sense to group together. Connections is much tricker than that, however, so don't expect the solutions to be so obvious. The different groups are also given different colors based on their difficulty, with yellow being the easiest, followed by green, then blue, and purple, which is the most difficult.

Behaviour Interactive is committed to growing Dead by Daylight as a franchise. That much is clear given that three spinoff games from the multiplayer horror hit were shown off during a live stream today. One of them is even out now.

All three games were shown during Dead by Daylight's 8th anniversary stream, where Behaviour Interactive also revealed the horror game's new 2v8 mode. In addition to the base game's new updates, the Dead by Daylight universe will expand with three games: Project T, The Casting of Frank Stone, and What the Fog.
