Capcom is planning to reissue its survival horror series sequel Resident Evil 6 for current generation console platforms, recent content ratings submissions indicate.

Gematsu reports that the Korean Game Rating Board rated Resident Evil 6 for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, suggesting that a remastered edition is imminent.

The Korean Game Rating Board previously outed the existence of console ports for Resident Evil: Revelations, lending credence to the possibility that Resident Evil 6 will see a similar upgrade in the coming months. Capcom officially announced that upgraded versions of Resident Evil: Revelations were in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 shortly after ratings data surfaced for both ports in 2012.

Released for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms in 2012, Resident Evil 6 features four playable characters, each of whom boasts their own unique campaign. Gameplay mechanics vary wildly between each of Resident Evil 6‘s playable chapters, shaking up established series conventions throughout.

Resident Evil 6 also features co-operative play in all of its chapters, allowing players to team up with friends to take down undead foes in split-screen and online multiplayer modes. A significant amount of downloadable content launched in the wake of Resident Evil 6‘s release, adding a collection of new multiplayer modes and other features. It’s likely that Capcom will bundle previously released DLC with the upcoming Xbox One and PS4 versions of Resident Evil 6.

The Resident Evil series has been a focal point for Capcom in recent months, as the publisher announced plans to produce remakes for Resident Evil 0 and the fan favorite Resident Evil 2. A competitive multiplayer spinoff game, Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps, is slated to launch for the PlayStation 4 and PCs in 2016.

Capcom has not confirmed plans to publish upgraded versions of Resident Evil 6 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and release dates for the ports are not yet known.

PlayStation 6: all the features we want to see in Sony’s next console
Three colorful PS5s float together in a line.

As we reach what we expect to be the midpoint of this console generation, we can't help but look to the future. In four years, there's a very good chance the hardware hype cycle will start up once again as Sony plans to release a PlayStation 6. While we're certainly jumping the gun in anticipating it (we're still waiting for a PS5 Pro, after all), we've been taking a moment this month to reflect on this console generation and what we want from the next one based on how its gone.

For the sake of daydreaming, I've put together a list of features I'm already hoping to see on PlayStation 6. Think of this less as an impatient glimpse at the future, though. If anything, it's more of a commentary on what's currently lacking on PS5. I hope to see the inevitable PS5 Pro address some of these issues, but if it doesn't, this is what I'll need to see if the PS6 drops in 2028.

PlayStation 6 predictions: games we expect to see on PS6
A screenshot from The Story So Far in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

We're four years into the PlayStation 5's lifecycle, which means that we've likely hit the halfway point. Console generations tend to last around eight years these days, so it's not impossible that we'll get a PlayStation 6 by 2028. While it might seem way too early to start anticipating a far off console (and it is), the reality is that the groundwork for it is likely being laid as we speak. Large scale exclusives can take well over four years to produce, which means that some PS6 games could be in the works right this second.

Some of those games seem like foregone conclusions. We'll likely see new games in the God of War and Horizon series, as well as new IP from studios like Housemarque. As for the rest? We already have some firm ideas about what games will land on Sony's next console. That's partially thanks to studio confirmation, leaks, and some good old fashioned common sense. Here our best guesses as to what we might be playing on a shiny new PlayStation by 2030.

You can now play the original Resident Evil on PC in all its retro glory

Capcom has made it easy to experience older Resident Evil titles with the help of its many recent remakes, but you were mostly out of luck on modern platforms if you wanted to actually play the original versions of those titles. Well, the GOG PC gaming storefront announced Wednesday that you'll soon be able to play the first three Resident Evil games in their (mostly) original forms.

Right now, however, only Resident Evil is available. For $10, you can play the iconic 1997 survival horror game with just a few quality-of-life improvements to make it run well on your Windows 10 or 11 PC. The GOG version makes some very small changes to the gameplay, including improving the timing of cutscenes and making it easier to exit the game, and it now has support for most modern controllers.
