Square Enix reveals Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, a four-player co-op game

Square Enix has revealed another entry in the Tomb Raider franchise. A fork from the ongoing Tomb Raider reboot, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris features a 4-player co-op arcade experience for Xbox One, PS4, and PC gamers.

According to Square Enix, this game is the sequel to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a 2010 platforming action game for consoles and mobile devices. The game follows the same arcade-like gameplay from Guardian of Light, but will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One with better graphics and new puzzles.

The Temple of Osiris will feature Croft, rival treasure hunter Carter Bell, and apparently also the Egyptian gods Horus and Isis, which were imprisoned by the “evil” god Set. Despite the big difference in gameplay and story behind this Lara Croft game, the developer behind it is Crystal Dynamics, the very same working on the new Rise of the Tomb Raider game.

The game will require the skills of all four players to help find treasure and ultimately win the game, but players will also simultaneously compete against each other to get the most treasure. We’re betting that the characters will all have different powers and abilities. No word yet on when the game will come out. You can watch the reveal video below.

These games got zero Game Awards nominations. They deserved a spot
A quarterback throws the ball in EA Sports College Football 25.

The Game Awards nominations are always a hot topic among the video game industry and its fans. Everybody has an opinion on what was nominated, what deserves to win, and which games were snubbed. Some games like The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, and Dragon's Dogma 2 got a nomination or two but not in major categories, while other critically acclaimed, popular games didn't get nominations at all.

We know that getting The Game Awards recognition isn't the be-all end-all of whether a game is "good" or not, and many of these games were recognized at the inaugural Indie Game Awards and will likely get nominations at other shows. Whether they fell under the radar or were in niche genres, there were many potential entries (many of which Digital Trends submitted as our nominations) that need to be celebrated despite -- and we can't stress this enough -- getting zero nominations.

Fallout 76’s next update could revolutionize the endgame experience
Two vault-dwellers and a helmet from a set of power armor.

Fallout 76 had an undeniably rocky start, with an above-average number of bugs and glitches for even a Bethesda game. It also has one of the best comeback stories in all of gaming and is now a popular, and more importantly, populated, game with a ton of content. The Gleaming Depths update promises to add even more to do in the game, including a brand-new raid, the biggest boss yet, and — finally — four-star gear.

This update marks the start of Fallout 76 season 19, The Scientific Forge. It starts on December 3, but the new raid has already been conquered several times over on the Fallout 76 Public Test Server. However, the biggest news of all isn't in the new raid or even the better gear.

Microsoft is testing a Steam-like in-game overlay
A screenshot of Edge Game Assist with Capture, Audio, and Performance windows open on-screen.

Have you ever paused your game, tabbed over to a browser, and Googled something you were stuck on? You aren't alone. 88% of PC players have done that, Microsoft says. While this works for a lot of people, it can cause games to glitch out (like Skyrim, which somehow always loses my crosshairs).

Microsoft's solution is Edge Game Assist, a fully-featured in-game browser that's similar to Steam's overlay but with a twist. It's essentially a gaming-optimized version of Microsoft Edge that appears on top of your game in Game Bar. Here's the cool part: It knows what you're playing and will toss tips your way (although that feature only works for a few games at the moment). And even cooler, you'll be able to access your browsing data from the normal version of Edge, so you won't need to log back in to any sites. That also means you can access your browsing data from your phone and your PC.
