Xbox Game Pass is getting tons of new games following Black Ops 6 success

We know a lot of you are playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Xbox right now, but the company just announced some games coming to Xbox Game Pass — specifically the Game Pass Standard tier — in the first half of November.

The biggest game coming to the service (and we mean that literally) is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Xbox and developers Asobo Studio previously reported that it will have a smaller install size than its predecessor — 127GB versus 157GB — but it’ll also require 64GB of RAM. All of this is to help stream immense detail to the player as they fly around the world. Asobo says helped it to increase “the detail of its virtual environment by a factor of 4,000.” Alongside the hyperrealistic graphics is a new career mode where you go through training and missions to become a pilot and a challenge mode where you compete against other pilots. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is coming to Game Pass at launch on November 19.

If you’re a StarCraft fan, you’ll also want to check out StarCraft: Remastered and StarCraft II: Campaign Collection through PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate, which brings the classic single-player campaigns to the service. You can still play the multiplayer through Battle.net, but this gives new players the chance to hop in.

Neither Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 or the StarCraft remasters will be on Game Pass Standard just yet, but this first wave of November titles is going to pump up that tier. Indies like the over-the-top Turnip Boy Robs a Bank and the handmade Harold Halibut are hitting Standard on November 6.

Of course, if you still want to play more Black Ops 6, the Nuketown multiplayer map, which is modeled after the classic map from Call of Duty: Black Ops, is now available. You can also buy the Vault Edition Upgrade for the season 1 battle pass, an operator pack, and more weapons.

What’s new in November 2024: 7 games to keep an eye on

Assassin's Creed Shadows may have been delayed to next year, but November is no slouch when it comes to new games. We're getting sequels to some fantastic games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and The Case of the Golden Idol, new games in series like Mario & Luigi, Horizon, and Microsoft Flight Simulator, and more. While not quite as densely packed as a busier-than-usual October, some late game-of-the-year contenders certainly have a chance to pop up over the next month.

Longtime fans of the Zombies mode in past Call of Duty games are no doubt loving the return to the round-based structure Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has taken. Between the Perks, Pack-A-Punch machines, and Easter eggs, there's already a ton of content to explore in the first two maps. Whether you're new to the mode or know all the tips and tricks from past games, there's one element that has most players scratching their heads. Augments are hardly explained in Black Ops 6 and are largely ignored because of this. However, ignoring this mechanic will only make life harder for you and your team. We've done all the research required to tell you how Augments work and which ones you should try to get first in Black Ops 6.

In short, Augments are equippable passive perks that add an additional minor or major effect to either a Perk, field upgrade, or ammo mod. Each one of these has six possible augments -- three minor and three major -- that each give a different buff. But there are two things you need to do before you can even begin tinkering with these Augments.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is on track to be the most successful Call of Duty release in the franchise's history thanks to a record-breaking launch, according to Activision and Microsoft.

The companies revealed that Black Ops 6 had the biggest three-day opening for the series by many metrics. It had the most players, most hours played, and the most total matches, according to a post on X (formerly Twitter). The game also got a shout-out during Microsoft's quarterly earnings call on Wednesday.
