The best smart faucets

There’s nothing wrong with a traditional kitchen or bathroom faucet, but once you experience the benefits of a smart faucet, it’s hard to go back to a basic fixture. Smart faucets emphasize efficiency, power, and aesthetics for all your sink-based duties. We’re talking touchless controls, measured water disbursement, increased flow rate, and attractive designs for the modern home.

With a plethora of choices on the market, we’ve put together a roundup of our favorite smart faucets to help you choose the model that’s best for you and your domicile.

Delta Faucet Trinsic VoiceIQ

Built for performance, longevity, and looks, the Trinsic VoiceIQ is your one-stop-shop for all of your smart faucet needs. Available in arctic stainless, black stainless, chrome, champagne bronze, and matte black, there’s a style option for nearly every kitchen. In terms of what’s going on inside the faucet, Trinsic’s diamond valve and PEX supply lines ensure an ultra-strong, leak-free seal for the life of your faucet.

If you plan on using all the voice features, you’ll need to have a non-switched power outlet installed under your sink. Once connected and paired to your network, your Trinsic can be controlled with Alexa and Google Assistant commands. Turn the water on/off, ask for exact quantities of water to be poured, choose your temperature, and engage customized routines with phrases like, “Alexa, fill the coffee pot.” If you’re not in the mood to talk with a smart speaker, the onboard Delta Touch2O Technology lets you power the faucet on/off by touching anywhere on the spout or handle. We also love the MagnaTite Docking System, which creates an unbreakable magnetic seal for the pull-down portion of the faucet. The 20-inch expandable hose can be maneuvered with ease, and automatically snaps back into place when you’re finished.

Some reviewers have complained of a little rusting after years of use and some water-spot staining on the faucet finish. For this high of a price point, it would be nice if that wasn’t the case. But if you’re looking for the best design/engineering and unbeatable smart features, the Delta Trinsic VoiceIQ gets two thumbs up from us.

Moen Sleek U Smart Pulldown Faucet

When it comes to leading smart faucet tech, the Sleek U by Moen is at the top of the food chain. Available in chrome, matte black, black stainless, and spot-resist steel finishes, the faucet can be controlled with voice commands, the Moen app (for iOS and Android devices), hands-free gestures, or by traditional manual operation.

If you’re buying for voice controls, you’ll need to make sure you’ve got an Alexa or Google Assistant-powered smart speaker within earshot. After you’ve enabled the Moen skill, you can say things like, “Alexa, ask Moen to run three cups of water at 120 degrees.” Then all you’ll have to do is hold your measuring cup under the faucet as your Sleek U self-pours.

With customization in the Moen app, you can even create specific routines for everyday faucet functions. That way, you can walk into the kitchen every morning, say, “Hey Google, fill my canteen,” and your faucet will fill your carry-on bottle with the exact amount of water you need. If you don’t have time for apps and assistants, a front-facing sensor will pick up on wave commands from your hands. We also love the Power Boost mode: a quick button-push feature that temporarily ups your water stream’s flow and pressure for deeper cleaning necessities.

Yes, the price tag is pretty steep, and the faucet itself is battery-powered (comes with six D batteries), which means you’ll be replacing batteries at several points in the faucet’s life. But in terms of features and performance, smart faucets don’t get much better than this.

Kohler Simplice Response Pull Down Faucet

The Kohler Simplice offers elegance and adaptive spray tech that you won’t find with run-of-the-mill faucets. Once powered (under-sink outlet required, no battery option), you can choose between stream, sweep, and boost spray modes, based on what you’ve got going on in the tub below. Stream cleaning uses 45% less water than standard faucet fixtures while delivering consistent flow and performance. Sweep cleaning ups the pressure and opens up the spray area to blast away caked-on food from your pans and dishes. If you need an extra blast of power, tap into boost cleaning for 30% more flow rate.

Hands-free controls are mapped to a sensor at the base of the spout. Simply waving your hand or a pan/dish in front of it will engage the faucet. The Simplice is also smart enough to know when you’re actually cleaning something and when your hand unintentionally glided by the sensor, so there’s very little chance for false activations.

Available in polished chrome, vibrant stainless, and matte black, there’s a finish to match every sink and countertop. The Docknetik pull-down head keeps the sprayer firmly in place when not in use, and the braided ProMotion hose makes for a quiet and comfortable grip when holding the sprayer. The only downfall with the elegant Simplice is that if you’re after apps and voice controls, you won’t find it here (which, for the price, is a bit of a letdown).

Delta Faucet Leland with ShieldSpray Technology

Delta Faucet doesn’t mess around when it comes to smartening up your kitchen sink, but what if you can’t afford the $400+ price point of the flagship VoiceIQ model? Not to worry. That’s where the Leland comes in. Available in chrome, arctic steel, and Venetian bronze, the Leland delivers all the smart faucet essentials and more.

Touchless controls are mapped to any part of the spout body for quick hands-free operation, magnetic docking ensures a firm hold on the sprayer when it’s retracted into the spout body, and an LED temperature indicator lets you see the water temperature from across the kitchen. ShieldSpray lets you engage a wide radius of pressurized water for cutting through grime and other tough cleaning jobs, and can be activated with the quick tap of a button. There are also two power options — battery (six AA included) or optional AC power (adapter sold separately).

If you’re after the fundamental must-haves of smart faucets, but don’t want to break the bank, the Delta Leland is an ideal pick. Just know that you won’t be able to pair with Alexa or get fancy with an app.

iTouchless EZ Faucet Pro

This roundup would simply not be complete without an option for the DIY crowd. Meet the iTouchless EZ Faucet Pro. The module hooks up to any standard American faucet assembly and features an infrared sensor right at the base of the spout. The water automatically flows until your hands are out of reach, at which point it will cut off. If you want to bypass auto-flow, there’s a manual mode for constant water flow for up to three minutes. The unit itself is powered by four AAA batteries, which are rated to last for just over a year. When the batteries start getting low, the front LED indicator will light, letting you know it’s time to change them.

This is a sub-$40 smart faucet module. For such a low price point, you’re of course losing out on many of the more advanced faucet features. That means no flow rate controls, apps, or voice controls. But look on the bright side: You’ll have a faucet that automatically turns on/off, you can install it in your kitchen or bathroom, and it makes for an ideal drinking tool for your cat! We’re not kidding. Reviewers love how convenient the EZ Faucet is for hydrating felines. When your kitty is done drinking and jumps off the counter, the EZ Faucet shuts down. No more worrying about keeping a water bowl full and cat-hair free.
