Get ready for Key and Peele to inject Super Bowl 50 with comedic commentary

The Super Bowl has a long history of spawning creative and/or hilarious advertising campaigns, but according to A.V. Club, a planned Squarespace promo may be poised to top the list.

Comedy duo Key and Peele will reportedly record live commentary of the big game in the guise of Lee (Key) and Morris (Peele), a pair of off-the-wall aspiring sportscasters from Atlanta. The pair will also star in a 30-second, traditional spot for the website-building company (embedded above) dubbed Successes, but muting CBS’ team of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms and letting the comedians call the action is all we can seem to think about.

The one weird caveat here is that Key and Peele can’t actually say the words “Super Bowl” due to the NFL’s infamous trademark stinginess. Or rather, they can say those words, if Squarespace wants to pony up the cash to pay for the resulting fines.

While this game is no laughing matter for Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos fans, this seems like it could be a riot and it’s an interesting alternative for those who’ll be following the gridiron action less seriously.

You can check out a trailer for the stunt below, which shows Lee and Morris decked out in some pretty outlandish garb, stumbling over their words as they try to get in sync during a press conference for the faux sports show, which has been dubbed Real Talk. Though they can’t quite agree on their phrasing, the takeaway is that they’re going to be doing live sports commentary during the game.

Real Talk with Lee and Morris, Presented by Squarespace will kickoff at 6 p.m. EST on Super Bowl Sunday on www.squarespace.com/realtalk. Super Bowl 50 (NOT Superbowl L) is set to air on CBS at 6:30 p.m. EST on February 7, 2016 and will be immediately followed by a special episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

As for Key and Peele, you can catch the duo in the upcoming Keanu (April 29, 2016), which recently premiered its red band trailer.
